Back in 2018, I created my most popular paid pattern, the Crochet Pencil Scarf.  I created the pencil scarf as a teacher’s appreciation gift for my daughter’s kindergarten teacher, not realizing how popular it would become 3 years later.

Once I saw how popular the pattern had become, I started thinking of other, similar patterns I could create. The first pattern I decided to work on is my new Crochet Crayon Scarf. It’s simple, cute, and can be customized in so many ways.

You can create a scarf in one solid color, create a “box” of crayon scarves in each color of the rainbow, or even use variegated yarn to create a multicolored crayon scarf.  I’ve found that most teachers would rather display the scarf in their classroom year-round, so I started personalizing the scarves with their last names (which they LOVE).

To create this scarf you will need my Crochet Crayon Scarf pattern available in my Etsy Shop, as well as the following:

I used approximately 1/2-3/4 of 1 skein of Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in ‘Turquoise’ for the crayon pictured and a small bit of black for the 4 crayon stripes.

The completed unblocked measurements of the scarf are 54″ long x 6.5″ wide.  If you want a longer or shorter scarf, you can crochet more or fewer rows in the main body of the scarf.  I’ve found that 80 rows total for the main body of the scarf makes a great wall hanging for teachers to display.

I’ve rated this pattern as a beginner-friendly pattern, but you will need a basic knowledge of color changes and decreases.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do.  I have a couple more ideas that I’m playing around with in my head and getting ready to get onto paper, so be on the lookout for those in the next couple of months 🙂
